CLUB RIRIE VOLLEYBALL
FAQS

OUR COACHES:

At Club Ririe, we are dedicated to providing the best coaching staff for our young athletes. Each season we strive to provide quality coaching for each of our teams. Each coach undergoes an intense background check through AAU (Amateur Athletic Union). We are always looking for knowledgeable and enthusiastic coaches to join our team. Contact either Club Directors Kathryn Nelson, Angel Young, Mckenzy Gallup or Lynne Sickinger if interested.

TEAMS & TRYOUTS/PLACEMENT:

Teams are determined based on age and skill level. U10-U12 are considered learning teams as most players are new to volleyball. U13-U18 are considered competitive teams. Tryouts/Team Placement may be necessary to ensure players are on the correct teams to give them the best experience and to ensure we have enough coaches and gym time. Players can be moved up or down depending on skill and team need.

We can not guarantee players will be on the same team as friends or family. If there is an issue/concern we need to be made of aware regarding teammates please email or contact one of the club directors.

If you have a child who is just younger than the U10 AAU age division but would like them to play, we will put them on a wait-list as we want to give those of the correct age priority to be placed on a team first.

NON-RIRIE ATHLETES:

Club Ririe was created to help benefit the student athletes at Ririe and the Ririe school volleyball programs. We are happy to take and look at sign up forms from potential players that do not attend Ririe but please know that if we need to limit the number of players on our teams that Ririe athletes will take priority over non-Ririe athletes.

Young Men:

Young men are allowed to participate in the EIVA Club Volleyball program with some restrictions. Young men must play up an age group. Example if your son is U12 age he must play on a U13/U14 team. Young men can only play in Saturday Leagues or Power Tournaments and teams with boys cannot advance to the gold division bracket for that tournament.

We recommend young men go through Crow Creek Volleyball club. This is a boys only volleyball club program in Idaho Falls. For more info visit crowcreekvb.com

PROGRAM/COSTS:

Club Ririe, LLC is associated with AAU and EIVA (Eastern Idaho Volleyball Associations). All tournaments are scheduled by EIVA and run from the end of March - the beginning of May. EIVA determines the fees for Saturday tournaments and Power/Grand Prix tournaments. Memberships fees go through AAU which each player and coach must have to participate in EIVA. Our fee's also cover players jerseys, equipment, business fee's, players AAU, coaches AAU/Background check and the small stipend we give to our volunteer coaches to help with gas, if there are funds available.

The purpose of Club Ririe, LLC is to coach volleyball, not to make a profit as all members of Club Ririe, LLC are volunteers. They give their time, talent, money and energy to the program and we are thankful for all of them! Club Ririe only charges what is needed to run the program. We would love sponsors or donations to help decrease the cost. If you know of business willing to help club programs please let one of the club directors know.

Leagues & Tournaments:

All games are played on Saturdays during the season. Club Ririe has chosen, for the 2025 Season, to only participate in Saturday League due to lower cost, quicker games and more playing time opportunities and touches on the ball for players.

The following information is from Eastern Idaho Volleyball Association's website.

Saturday League: Saturday League tournament events are held every weekend of the season for the U10 through U16 age levels. Teams participating in the Saturday League are scheduled for a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 events. Saturday League events use a pool play format. U10-U12 events are scheduled in 2-hour increments for the day, with 4-team pools playing on 2 courts. U13-U16 events are 5-team pools playing on 2 courts, with events scheduled in the morning and afternoon. The focus of these tournaments is to provide more playing time opportunities and touches on the ball for players and teams, especially at the younger levels. All matches are 2 games to 25 with no cap except for U10 which is a timed game format.

Grand Prix and Power Tournaments: Power and Grand Prix Tournaments are one-day or two-day events that use a pool play and single elimination bracket format.  After all teams compete in pool play, they are seeded into single elimination brackets based on their pool play results. Gold bracket winners earn a bid to AAU Nationals provided there are at least 16 teams in the tournament.  The entry fee for Nationals is covered by the AAU for Grand Prix tournament winners and the entry fee is paid by the EIVA for Power Tournaments winners. U15-U16 Saturday League events are not scheduled on the same weekends as our U15-U16 Power and Grand Prix Tournaments.
